Data on Cartographer is organised in a three-level hierarchy. The levels are called workspaces, projects, and teams:

Workspaces

Workspaces are mini web-sites that belong to different companies and organisations. You can tell what workspace you’re in by the logo [1] and name [2] on the top left of the web page. If you ever get lost, you can return to your workspace home page by clicking one of these two things:

If you’re involved with several different organisations or monitoring initiatives, you may become a member of several workspaces. If so, your workspaces will be listed down the left side of the page. You can switch back and forth between different workspaces by clicking their logos:

Projects

Within a workspace you will find one or more projects where the actual work happens. Each project contains a collection surveys and maps, and has its own list of project members including surveyors, approvers, and coordinators.

The projects in a workspace are listed on its home page [1] and sidebar [2]

On the workspace home page, projects are shown as cards. Each card shows a list of the project’s survey forms [1] and maps [2]. Click on the name of a survey form to see a list of the corresponding surveys or on the name of a map to see the map.

If you are a surveyor in the project, you’ll see buttons on the right to quickly record new surveys [3]. If you are an approver or coordinator, you’ll see a button to access project settings [4].

The sidebar shows similar menu items and buttons. Hover over the name of a survey form to reveal the add survey button, and the name of the project to reveal the project settings button:

Teams

Some larger projects are further subdivided into teams. Each team has its own surveyors, approvers, and coordinators, who can contribute surveys and manage their own QA and approval process. For more information see our page on multi-team projects.
